Q&A with Meghan
1. Tell us about your path here. Why did you choose to join Acertitude?
My path started in the hospitality industry. For a good portion of my career, I worked as a director at a high-end event venue in Tribeca, New York, and oversaw many backend operations from billing and contracts to vendor management and client relations. The compelling aspects of human resources that I encountered in my event career led me to pursue HR certification in my spare time.
There turned out to be a lot of parallels between the hospitality industry and executive search, namely my ability to wear several hats at once. My multitasking capabilities, organizational management, and wherewithal to see around corners came in handy during my transition to Acertitude, proving that my role at the firm was a great fit for me.
2. Describe a day in your life. Favorite parts of your job?
I enjoy starting my day with a nice cup of coffee. We are a global firm, so I spend my morning catching up on emails, to-dos and looking at my day and week ahead. Fun fact: I have my calendar color coded, so at a glance, I can see that day's internal and external calls, reminders, flags, and due dates. The rest of the day is a mix between client and candidate management, keeping everyone's calendars in check, and being a resource for colleagues to help get everything done.
3. What is special about working here?
Working at Acertitude is special due to the collaborative environment we have fostered, not only as a project management team, but firmwide. I know that I can count on my team members to provide insight and knowledge I may not have, and we can all bounce ideas off each other. Team members are always willing to jump in and help complete tasks on time or lend an ear for supportive discussion. We all have each other's backs.
4. How has Acertitude helped you grow and perform at your best?
The firm has created a space for us all to learn and grow, not only as employees, but as human beings. Acertitude wants us to yearn for more and be passionate about what we do. They are willing to provide additional training, bring in guest speakers, virtual yoga (!), development opportunities, and never want us to stop unleashing our human potential.
5. What advice do you have for people looking to join Acertitude? What qualities do people need to be successful here?
My advice would be to own what you bring to the table. Everyone at the firm comes from all walks of life, and we all have something valuable to add to the executive search process. Be hungry, be curious, and be willing to listen.
