Q&A with Emily
1. Tell us about your career path here. How did you find yourself at Acertitude and why did you join the firm?
I joined Acertitude as an analyst in January 2022, immediately after graduating from college. As an alum of Marietta College, our Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Kevin O'Neill, reached out to my Career Center seeking good candidates to discuss potential opportunities with, and I was recommended for the role.
After several rounds of interviews, I was thrilled with what Acertitude had to offer: the opportunity to continually learn, take charge of my personal development, and build meaningful relationships with mentors who genuinely cared about me drew me to the firm. Unlike previous roles where monotony was an issue, Acertitude promised dynamic and engaging work - and delivered.
2. Describe a day in your life. Favorite parts of your job?
My days at Acertitude are varied and never repetitive. A significant portion of my time is dedicated to researching and devising creative solutions to client challenges. I frequently engage in conversations with executives, gaining insights into their careers and experiences. Collaboration is essential in the Consumer & Industrial Practice, so I regularly coordinate with my team, collaborate with other researchers, and participate in experiential opportunities beyond my job description.
What I enjoy most about the job is the diversity of tasks and the continuous opportunities for learning and growth.
3. What is special about working here?
Acertitude is unique because it empowers employees to take control of their careers. Nothing is handed to you, but if you want to progress, you are encouraged to take initiative. I was quickly promoted to an associate position because I proactively took on more responsibilities without waiting for deadlines. The firm rewards ambition and self-motivation.
4. How has Acertitude helped you grow and perform at your best?
Acertitude emphasizes continuous improvement and teamwork. We are a young team, and we learn from each other by sharing what works and what doesn't. I've developed tenacity and resilience here, learning to push through challenges and bounce back from failures. The firm's supportive environment has been instrumental in helping me perform at my best.
5. In what ways - big or small - do you live out our mission of unleashing human potential?
I strive to unleash human potential both within and outside of the firm. Internally, I help train new hires, mentor colleagues, and support the team. Externally, I engage in volunteer work and offer career advice. I've assisted friends, family, and young women with resume writing, interview preparations, and overall recruitment guidance, helping them unlock their potential.
6. What advice do you have for people looking to join Acertitude? What qualities do people need to be successful here?
To succeed at Acertitude, you must commit to learning. Solutions to our problems are rarely straightforward, so it's important to ask questions and follow leads to find the answers.
