Acertitude Recruits Pete Caputo as CIO for Rise Broadband

Successful Colorado broadband provider selects proven telecom leader

New York, NY, February 9, 2016 – Pete J. Caputo has accepted the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Rise Broadband, the nation’s largest fixed wireless broadband service provider, based in Englewood, CO.  In his new role, Caputo will lead the Information technology (IT) function, with responsibility for providing the technological infrastructure essential to the firm’s service offering, as well as the strategic guidance needed to drive continued organizational growth through IT innovation and improved efficiencies.

“Pete brings exactly the mix of leadership skills we rely on to make us the first choice in the marketplace,” said David Heimbach, chief operating officer for Rise.  “He has real, proven expertise in his chosen field of information technology.  But he adds to that a blend of management skills and a capacity for strategic thinking.  That is the combination we seek in our senior management team, and Pete will fit in perfectly.”

Caputo brings two decades of telecom experience, with a track record of steady growth in his roles and responsibilities for some of the leading names in the industry.  After beginning his career as a field engineer and network planner, Caputo’s technical expertise and ability to build and guide effective teams led to increased management and leadership responsibilities.  Most recently, he was vice president for IT with Level 3 Communications in Denver, having previously served as vice president of technology strategy and senior director of technology for tw telecom, before its acquisition by Level 3. Early in his career, he held roles with Convergent Communications and US West.

Caputo has a master’s degree in telecommunications from the University of Colorado in Boulder, as well as a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska.  He also holds seven U.S. patents related to information technology.

“I’m looking forward to being part of such a dynamic company,” Caputo said.  “Rise operates with the kind of drive and energy that I value, and a commitment to innovation and improvement in everything it does. I am absolutely excited to do all I can to contribute to the team, through driving an IT strategy that supports our employees, growth, and continued transformation of our customer experience.”

Caputo will report to Heimbach and work out of the firm’s Englewood offices.

Rick DeRose, founder and managing partner of Acertitude, noted the importance of matching professional skills and organizational culture.  “What sets the Rise organization apart from others in its field is as much the spirit and values they bring to their work as it is their unquestioned technical expertise and capabilities,” he said. “They’re growing aggressively because they work every day to find new and better ways to serve their customers.  They value collaboration, and have a passion for achieving aggressive goals. Pete brings the same spirit, and I predict he will step in quickly and become a valuable member of their management team.”
